Here's a great collection of the 240z videos - some of my car and others that I found online. Click on the pics to watch.
On April 30th of 2026 I was finally able to take the car to the spectacular High Plains Raceway, an hour east of Denver. It's 2.5 miles long, has 15 turns, some big elevation changes, and the back straight is nearly half a mile long. They have "open lapping" days for $160, which is a bargain.
There was some rain in the morning but it eventually ended and the track dried out. It took some time to learn the layout and I'll admit I locked-up a few times. During my final session, I ran for half an hour at three minutes per lap and loved every second of it. The car ran great, sounded great, and most of all, handled the way a well-designed sports car should. Peak speed was 96 mph and I know I'll break that the next time.
You're required to drive with the windows open because you'll need to signal other cars, such as "go ahead and pass" (which happened a couple of times). During one lap I played Led Zeppelin's "Rock And Roll" on the stereo so loud that I'm certain the corner workers heard it.
In December of 2025 I took the car for a leisurely afternoon drive up Coal Creek Canyon in the Colorado Rockies. One part has an incredible set of switchbacks, with corners so tight that the speed limits are 10-15 mph. I could have gone a bit faster, but with recent snowmelt and sand and old tires, I was a little limited.
The section shown has an elevation change of about 1,100 feet. Great fun.
On February 5th 2017 I drove my car for the first time, going cautiously to the end of the block and back. The engine was cold and needed a lot of throttle feathering to keep it running, and I wasn't sure how well the brakes would work. The smoke was to be expected from an engine that hadn't been run in years.
A brief journey but a major milestone.
This car is called the Green Hornet and it's amazing. Totally stock inside and out, but underneath is a no-nonsense suspension and an 3.5liter engine that howls. Ride along for one lap at Laguna Seca during a 10-lap session where he passed nearly every other car.
Using a 240z for an off-road rally seems a little odd until you see it in action. This one looks like great fun.
Here's an in-depth look at a rally car which seems unreal. I would drive it every day.
Wouldn't you?
